I have to (embarrassingly) admit that when my oldest started preschool, I did everything you're NOT supposed to do at drop off:
  • I would drag out the goodbye
    or
  • I would try to sneak away
    or
  • I would linger at the door, watching until he saw me and started crying

I think I just wanted him to want to come home, even though the program was only for a couple hours in the afternoon and he had the most amazing teacher (Katie, who is now running our at-home Montessori program).

In fairness, the start of school is hard on us parents too!

It often means the end of a very special time.

But really, dragging out drop off made us all miserable and didn't do anything helpful. It meant my son's transition to school took much longer.

Don't be me.

Drop offs (and pick up) can be smooth and painless if you take the right steps.

So with back to school upon us, I wanted to share a round up of our best school prep newsletters from the last year.

Hopefully one or two will be helpful to your family :)
