School Grants in Canada

Looking to for additional funds for your Canadian school? Below is a list of grants you can apply to. 

1.  Farm to School Canada Grants

Value: Up to $10,000

The ideal grant for schools that want to implement a new meal/snack service or another in-school program aimed at increasing student consumption of healthy, seasonal foods.

3.  Bee Grants

Value:  $1,500 or One Indoor Observation Hive

This grant allows schools and non-profit organizations to receive support for educational beehives and bee programming, helping students observe bees up close and understand their essential role in our food system.

4.  Garden Grant Program

Value: $3,500

This grant supports new or existing edible educational gardens at K–12 schools, encouraging students to connect with their food through hands-on learning.

5.  TD Friends of the Environment Foundation Grant

Value:  $2,000 - $8,000

This grant supports a variety of environmental initiatives, with a focus on environmental education and green space programs. Eligible projects include schoolyard greening, park revitalization, community gardens, park-based programming, and citizen science activities.

6.  Learning Gardens

Value: $500 - $3,000

These grants support the creation of outdoor or indoor garden spaces for students, ranging from hands-on, curriculum-connected gardens to naturalized spaces for school and community enjoyment, promoting learning, well-being, and a connection to nature and food.

7.  PollinateTO Grants

Value:  Up to $5,000

NOTE: TORONTO ONLY

This grant supports community-led projects in Toronto that create, expand, or improve pollinator gardens in visible public spaces, including converting lawns or hard surfaces into pollinator-friendly areas with native plants. 

8.  Go Wild Grants

Value: Up to $1,500

This grant helps students and educators protect and restore natural habitats on school grounds to support local wildlife and promote hands-on environmental learning. Past projects have included creating pollinator gardens, restoring creeks and forests, monitoring wildlife, and raising awareness about conservation.

9.   “Living in a Material World” Grants

Value: Up to $500

This grant helps K-12 teachers bring the real world of materials science into their classrooms. “Living in a Material World” grants recognize creativity and enhance awareness of materials science and the role that materials play in society.

10.  PromoScience

Value: Up to $200,000 per year, for 3 years.

This grant invites applications for projects that encourage interest in natural sciences and engineering among Canada’s youth. Special emphasis is placed on reaching underrepresented groups to foster diversity in NSE careers.

11.  PHE Empowerment Grants

Value: $500 - $2,500

These grants invest in school-based physical and health education programs, teacher training, and leadership development to strengthen the capacity of schools and educators. The goal is to equip every child and youth in Canada with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for resilient, active, and healthy lives.

12.  Indigenous Artists in Communities and Schools Projects

Value:  Up to $15,000

This grant supports Indigenous-led arts projects and programs in schools and communities, including workshops, camps, pow wows, and land-based activities, that engage community members as participants or audiences.

13.  The Push For Change

Value: $5,000

This grant empowers youth to develop and lead service-based learning projects that address critical issues affecting their schools or communities, helping them make a positive impact through teamwork and action.

14.  Canada Post Community Foundation Grants

Value:  Up to $50,000

These grants support projects benefiting children and youth across Canada, including initiatives like STEM programs, mental health support, and Indigenous truth and reconciliation programming. Eligible organizations can apply for project grants to create or expand local services or signature grants for national programs. 

15.  tdsbCREATES

Value:  Classroom teachers host the Artist Residency Program for a series of half days

NOTE: TORONTO ONLY

This program pairs TDSB classes from grades 1 to 8 with residency artists who lead workshops emphasizing creativity and collaboration, focusing on the artistic process instead of a final exhibition or performance.

16.  MusiCounts

Value:  Up to $20,000

These grants support schools and community organizations by providing instruments, equipment, and resources to make music education accessible, sustainable, and inclusive for all youth in Canada.

17.  Literacy Fund Grant

Value: Amount varies based on community needs

This grant supports high-needs elementary schools in fostering a love of reading by providing funding for books and literacy resources. Schools receive support to build vibrant, engaging libraries and literacy programs that help students develop strong reading skills and a lifelong passion for books.

18.  Peter Gzowski Foundation for Literacy Grants Program

Value:  Single-year projects receive up to $20,000.  Multi-year projects are eligible for more

These grants support literacy projects that build organizational capacity or enhance promising practices in adult and family literacy. They aim to strengthen impactful literacy programming across Canada.

19.  Canadian Future-Ready Education Grant

Value:   Includes $19,960 in licensing and resources to run BizKids Future-Ready programs

This grant provides programming for students aged 7–13 that develops essential soft and technical skills through topics like entrepreneurship, public speaking, and innovation. Designed to align with provincial curriculum, each program includes educator support to enhance classroom delivery and student engagement.

20.  Best Buy School Tech Grants

Value:  Up to $10,000

This grant supports Canadian elementary schools from kindergarten to grade 8 in integrating new technology into their classrooms. The goal is to enhance student engagement and learning through access to modern educational tools.

21.  Cadillac Fairview Play Makers Grant Program

Value:  Up to $10,000

This grant supports the creation and/or improvement of school playgrounds and play spaces to encourage children to stay active and engaged in sports.

22.  FirstOntario Community Sponsorships

Value:  Amount varies based on school's needs

Welcomes applications from members and community groups seeking support for initiatives that make a meaningful impact in their local areas.

23.  KABOOM!

Value: Community Playspace

As a Community Partner, you guide a collaborative process that centres your community’s voices to design, plan, and build a new playspace using KABOOM!’s community-build model. This project will provide an enriching play environment that supports children’s health and well-being and helps advance the goal of ending playspace inequity.

24.  Richardson Foundation Supporting Our Communities

Value: Amount varies based on community project 

This funding supports community projects in areas where the organization’s customers and employees live and work.

25.  Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF)

Value: Up to $3,000,000

Provides funding for projects that improve accessibility in Canadian communities and workplaces for persons with disabilities. It supports initiatives such as infrastructure upgrades, accessible technology, and youth-led projects that remove barriers to inclusion.

26.  The ChariTree Foundation Outdoor Classroom Grant

Value:  Up to $5,000

This grant supports schools and children’s camps across Canada in building outdoor classrooms to increase access to outdoor learning and climate education.

27.  Field of Dreams

Value:  Amount varies depending on project scope

This grant supports community-led improvements to sports infrastructure, including building or refurbishing baseball diamonds as well as funding gyms and multi-sport courts.

28.  Toronto's Vital Signs Grants

Value:  Up to $15,000

These grants aim to surface and support high-impact organizations and their visionary work in tackling our city’s inequities.  Applicants are small nonprofits and charities working to build their internal capacity. 

29.  Kal's Replay Fund

Value:  Up to $20,000

This grant provides funding for public infrastructure upgrades using recycled rubber products. It supports non-profits, school boards, First Nations, and municipalities in recycling rubber tires to create improved and inclusive community spaces.

30.  Gro for Good

Value:  $2,500

This grant supports projects across Canada seeking to develop sustainable gardens and green spaces with a focus on community impact, youth involvement, and sustainability.
