● 1 cup of any white rice
● 1 tbsp. of white vinegar
● Food Colouring
● Ziploc bag
● Baking tray with parchment paper


  1. Pour one cup of rice into a ziploc bag and add 1 tbsp. of white vinegar. Shake the bag.
  2. Add a few drops of food colouring and shake/massage until colour is all over the rice.
  3. Pour contents out onto the baking tray. I like to add parchment paper to the bottom of the tray to make the clean up easier/less messy.
  4. It takes approximately 1 hour for the rice to fully dry but I suggest you prepare the night before. Sometimes the clumps of rice take a little longer and then it gets food colouring on your child's hands. 
  5. Repeat with as many colours as you’d like.
