Most of our Montessori classroom materials aren't appropriate for the home. They're meant to be introduced to the child by a trained instructor.

That's why we carry a bunch of reading, writing, and math sets that are designed for parents/non-educators.

So if you're looking for activities to support your child's literacy or math skill. Check out the sets below:

Literacy Sets

Bob Books - help children build confidence and foundational reading skills through simple stories. These books are designed as an easy way to introduce phonics and sight words. I recommend starting with Set 1 to see how your child likes them before committing to buying more sets. (Set 1 is for ages 4+).

Puzzle Cards - 3 Letter Words - helps children master early spelling and phonics skills using puzzles. The visuals make this a great tool for early readers.

Mini Muffin Phonics Activity Set -  introduces children to letter identification, beginning sounds, syllables, word families, and other essential phonics skills. Recommended for 4 years and up.

Skill Builders Kindergarten Writing Kit - Helps 4-6 year olds practice pencil grip, letter formation, writing, and early reading skills.

Sight Words Toss Game - combines physical activity with learning to help children build sight word recognition, memory, and reading confidence in an engaging and active way.  Recommended for 5 years and up.

Word Construction - encourages hands-on learning as children build phonetic words, strengthening spelling, reading, and early literacy skills through interactive play.  Recommended for 5 years and up.

Reading Rods® Phonics Word-Building - helps children learn short and long vowel patterns and practice advanced phonics skills.  Includes teacher-developed activity guide.  Recommended for ages 6 years and up.

For children that are new to letter learning, you could use any of the alphabet puzzles or magnet sets found here to introduce letters, 2-3 at a time. You can read more about how to introduce letters in this post: 6 Fun Letter, Pre-Reading, and Reading Activities.

Math Sets

Learn My Numbers Fine Motor Clips - helps children strengthen and refine their fine motor skills while learning number recognition, counting, and other early math skills. Recommended for 3 years and up. We also have several free printables of these types of counting cards here: https://themontessoriroom.com/pages/numbers-counting

Mathlink Activity Sets - These sets are great! Each set includes MathLink® Snap Cubes and activity cards that teach children foundational math skills such as counting, patterning, addition and subtraction. They make it really easy for parents to teach/practice these skills. These are all recommended ages 3+

Puzzle Cards - Counting - helps children develop number recognition, counting skills, and one to one correspondence. Recommended for 3 years and up.

Snap Cubes - help children visualize math concepts like counting, addition, and subtraction by allowing them to physically group and manipulate the cubes. This hands-on approach makes abstract ideas more concrete and easier to understand, promoting a deeper comprehension of early math skills. Recommended for 5 years and up.

Skill Builders! Kindergarten Math Kit - helps children develop essential math skills, including addition, subtraction, and problem-solving through interactive activities. It reinforces number recognition and basic arithmetic in a fun and engaging way. Recommended for 5 years and up

Cuisenaire® Rods Early Math Activity Set - teaches children about addition, subtraction, composing/decomposing numbers, early geometry, and more. Includes 15 double-sided activity cards. Recommended for 5 years and up.
