Why Teach Rhyming Words

Rhyming words are an important part of language development because they help to develop phonological awareness, an essential skill that lays the foundation for reading, spelling, and expanding vocabulary.

Children are also naturally drawn to rhyme. They’re exposed to rhyme in books, songs and everyday language. Activities like this appeal to children’s natural curiosity for language.  

AND matching rhyming words in a hands-on way helps children hear patterns, strengthen memory for sounds, and develop confidence with words, making learning both engaging and meaningful.

Rhyming Words

Recommended age: 3 and up
