1. Heart Matching

Recommended for ages 2-4

Cut the hearts in half and match the two sides, either by colourpattern, or number of circles. This is a great way to learn colours, develop visual discrimination skills, and practice counting.Print one sheet at a time and cut out the hearts, then cut each heart in half. For younger children, offer just 2-3 hearts at a time, adding more at they continue to master them.Go here to download each page:

2. Heart Dot Printable

Recommended for ages 2-4Use Dot Markersstickers, or pom poms to fill in the circles. This activity is great for developing fine motor skills. You can also fill in the circles with the snips from the cutting strips below.Go here to download this printable: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/5530/6394/files/Heart_Dot_Printable.pdf?v=1707283168

You can add more images, as well as the medium size images, as your child masters more of them.Go here to download this set and the instructions: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/5530/6394/files/Sorting_Valentine_s_Cards_-_S_M_L.pdf?v=1707283193

5. Heart Symmetry and Cutting Activity

Recommended for ages 2-5This printable is 2-in-1. Children as young as two, can participate in symmetry painting. To do this, fold the paper in half and have your child paint one half of the heart. Then press both sides together so the paint transfers to the second half. Now they have a symmetrical painting. For children 3+ that have experience using scissors, they can cut out the heart once the paint is dry.Go here to download this image: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/5530/6394/files/Heart_Symmetry_and_Cutting_Activity.pdf?v=1707283167

6. Valentine's Day Cutting Strips

Recommended for ages 3-4Cutting strips are a great way to practice cutting for young children. You, the adult, can prep this activity by cutting them lengthwise. This allows your children to cut each image with one snip. The success of this builds their confidence.Go here to download these cutting strips: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/5530/6394/files/Cutting_Strips_-_Valentine_s_Day.pdf?v=1707283168
The snips can also be used after, for gluing activities.

7. Counting and Number Symbols - Part 1

Recommended for ages 3-4Print the sheet at cut out each of the 4 boxes. Have your child count the items in each box and then circle the corresponding number symbol below. In a Montessori classroom, an activity like this would be done with clothespins, where the child clips the clothespin over the correct number symbol. This is a great way to add fine motor development into the activity.  Go here to download this page:https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/5530/6394/files/Valentine_s_Counting_and_Number_Symbols_-_Part_1.pdf?v=1707283168

8. Counting and Number Symbols - Part 2

Recommended for ages 3-5This 2-page printable is a great next step to Part 1. In this printable, the number symbol is not provided so children are required to count the items and then write the number symbol on the left.  For children newer to number symbols, start by only offering page 1, with quantities of 1-4. Once they have mastered this page, add in page 2.Go here to download the sheet: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/5530/6394/files/Valentine_s_Counting_and_Number_Symbols_-_Part_2.pdf?v=1707283168
