The Purpose of the Colour Tablets

They're designed to develop the child’s chromatic sense (visual perception of colour) and visual discrimination skills.

They're introduced in the Casa Classroom, to children 3 years and up.

There are three sets of Colour Tablets:

1. Box 1 introduces the three primary colours: red, blue, and yellow.
2. Box 2 expands to 11 pairs of colours that children match together while learning their names.
3. Box 3 contains seven gradations of nine different colours. Children arrange each set from lightest to darkest, developing an eye for subtle colour differences.

At-Home Alternatives

The colour tablets are beautiful and a great way to isolate colours, but you can explore the same concepts at home using everyday objects.

The goal is not simply for children to memorize colour names. Through colour activities, children are learning to observe carefully, compare differences and refine their visual sense.

Colour activities you can do at home:

• Matching pairs of coloured socks
• Sorting LEGO or building blocks by colour
• Collecting objects from around the house that are the same colour
