Pikler Triangle
The sensitive period for movement is from ages 0-5.
Montessori defines a sensitive period as a time when a child is deeply interested in a specific subject. This makes it easier for children to develop skills related to this interest.
In the sensitive period for movement, it's best to give your child as many movement activities as possible.
The Pikler satisfies this need for movement and learning in so many ways.
Between the ages 0-2.5, a child learns:
How to grasp the rungs
How to balance while climbing
How to coordinate movement between the arms and legs
How to lift their leg over top and coordinate body parts
How to climb backwards down the Pikler
Between the ages of 2.5-5, a child:
Refines coordination of movements
Explores different ways of using the Pikler, including more imaginative play
Develops problem solving skills
Develops the connection between the brain and the body

Extremely Sturdy
Our climber can hold up to 200lbs. The rungs are made from solid hard maple and very strong. We've seen other climbers that have broken with rough play or rungs that have snapped when multiple children are playing on it. Our climber has withstood the weight of multiple grown men JUMPING on it.
Easy To Store
Collapse in 58 seconds. Just unscrew the knobs and fold in half for storage.
Secure
Some triangle climbers have no way to keep the triangle in the open position, they simply open and close without a knob to secure it in place. This is dangerous as the triangle is much more likely to collapse with rough play. Fingers can also get pinched in the top. It's best to have a knob or bolt to keep the triangle open when in use.
Engineered for Safety
Some triangles allow you to open them at multiple angles, opening wider to make them lower to the ground. This is unsafe as it puts too much pressure on the centre joint. Our triangle is designed to open at the ideal angle for safety and sturdiness.
The Only Triangle With A Custom Fitted Tent
A wonderful little sewing company in Ontario makes custom fitted tents to fit our climbers. Go here to check them out > https://themontessoriroom.com/products/pikler-tent
No other triangle climber on the market has this option and they're made right here in Canada from a heavy, durable cotton!
Made in Canada
Made by Canadian woodworkers with Canadian safety standards in place and proper liability insurance, should anything happen.
Low Carbon Footprint
Our climbers are made in the GTA, just 25 minutes from our store so there's minimal carbon footprint in production.

"We love this new addition to our play space. For obvious reasons we are home a lot these days; I have three kids, 4, 2 and 8 months. The four year old creates forts out of the pikler and climbs with ease. I find that it gives her confidence while providing her with much needed exercise.
My 2 year old, who gravitates to pretend play, who needs encouragement to play on the structures at the park, well he can go up and down the pikler on repeat for an hour! I love watching him go. I now can't wait for the 8 month old to learn how to pull himself up on the ladder! He loves going down the slide with his big siblings."

The beautiful thing about the climbing triangle is that it can be used in so many different ways and for so many years. The simplicity of the design makes it easy for children to imagine the different uses:
Cover it with a blanket and use it as a tent. BONUS: send them underneath with a snack, flashlight, and a couple toys for some quiet time :)
Turn it on its side and use it as an ice cream stand or boat.
Use the ramp to connect to our other climbers or even just the couch to make a bridge and mini jungle gym.
Use the ramp as a car racing track.
Turn it on its side and push it up against the wall to make a zoo cage and fill it with stuffies.
These are just a few of the ideas from our house and customers that have shared their pics :) I'm sure your child will have a dozen others.
We also sell a custom fitted tent, made in Canada too! > https://themontessoriroom.com/products/pikler-tent
As a Canadian, you're also likely spending half of the year cooped up indoors.
The Triangle provides an opportunity for young children to continue their gross motor development and gives them something safe to climb while indoors.
It also provides a much needed outlet for exercise when it's too cold or too rainy to get outside for long.

The climbing triangle satisfies the urge to climb but in a safe and controlled way.
While playgrounds are designed for children ages 5+ and often crowded and your furniture isn't meant for gymnastics, the triangle is just the right size and challenge for toddlers.
Please note that while it's used to encourage independent movement, they will still need constant supervision.
The difference between each size is really just the height and overall footprint on the ground.
If you have the space and money for a large, we often recommend the large because it will grow with your child.
That being said, you may feel more comfortable having a very young child, mainly those under 18 months, on a medium o r small.
The idea with the climber is that you can step back and let them move freely. If you feel too nervous with your child on the large, they won't get nearly as much out of it.
The large is quite tall so it can be a little scary to see your little one on it the first time.
We recommend pulling out the measuring tape and checking the dimensions of everything before deciding.
You can also take our climber quiz to get a personalized recommendation. Click here to answer 4 questions about the size of your play space, budget, and age of your child(ren).
Based on your answers, we'll recommend the best climber for your family.
It was created by a doctor with very similar philosophies to Maria Montessori, Dr. Emmi Pikler.
Dr. Pikler also believed in independent play, the importance of fostering a child's awareness of itself and its environment, and child-led development. Her experience with infants and young children led her to conclude that a child’s own movements and the development of these movements are a constant source of joy to them.
The Triangle allows children to explore their body, learn their own boundaries, and it responds to their climbing needs, making it a child-led toy, the core of the Montessori philosophy.
One of the biggest advantages to the Triangle, compared to most other toys, is the number of years your child will enjoy playing with it.
It's great for even young children as a pull up bar when they're just learning to stand but toddlers and young children as old as 6 years old will get the most from it.
There is no finish on the triangle.
We believe the Triangle is best left unfinished, as the natural wood is good for grip and provides a richer sensory experience.
The sides of the Montessori Climbing Triangle are made of 3/4" Baltic Birch Plywood. This material is used because of its strength, stability and aesthetics. The dowels are 1" hard maple dowels.
The sides of the ramp are made of 3/4" Baltic Birch Plywood and the board and ovals are made of Poplar Plywood.
Yes! You just can't leave it outside in the rain or snow (it can't get wet). Luckily with the easy collapse handles we provide, you can bring it inside or outside in minutes.
We recommend putting it in the grass or on rubber foam tiles.
The unassembled triangle is available for shipping. It will arrive in double-walled, brown cardboard box so your children won't know what's inside and it can stay a surprise, if you like!
Shipping dimensions for unassembled triangles + ramp:

Medium: 48" x 5" x 16" (36lbs)
