Montessori Floorbed - Twin

The Montessori Floor Bed is very simple in its design and provides the child with a comfortable and accessible place to sleep and rest. 

A floor bed allows the child to get in and out of bed independently and safely. Unlike a crib or raised bed, there are no visual or physical obstructions in the child's way, which enables the child to move freely and aids the development of the child's independence.  

The Montessori floor bed offers several benefits for children's development:

• Independence: A floor bed allows children to get in and out of bed on their own, promoting independence and self-reliance. It empowers them to make choices about when to rest or play.
• Builds confidence: Rather than waiting for a parent to retrieve them from a crib, the child learns to occupy themselves when they wake up in the morning. The child learns "I'm okay on my own."
• Freedom of movement: Unlike a crib with high rails, a floor bed enables a child to move freely in and out of bed. This can encourage physical development.
• Attachment and bonding: Parents can lie with the child and offer comfort, if needed, when falling asleep.
• Healthy sleep patterns: Some parents find that their children sleep more soundly on a floor bed. The freedom to move around can help children develop a natural sleep routine, promoting better sleep patterns.
• Smooth transition to a regular bed: Transitioning from a floor bed to a regular bed is often easier for children, as they are already accustomed to being in a more open sleep environment without the need for crib bars.

Designed to fit a twin mattress (not included).

The door can be used in 3 ways: opening, closing and removing.

Mattress Recommendations

The floor bed fits a standard twin mattress - 38" x 75"

Please note the maximum mattress thickness must not be greater than 8". Before use, ensure the mattress fits snugly within the bed frame so that it cannot be moved around. There must not be more than a 3cm gap between the mattress and the bed frame. 

NOTE: To prevent an entrapment hazard, the bed must be placed at least 30cm (12") from the wall.
