"A very pleasant experience ordering from The Montessori Room. Despite the pandemic and the hectic Christmas rush, the staff made my online purchase personal - from following up directly after the order was placed, to providing information about shipping and the great quality of the toy, I couldn’t have asked for a better service. The special note on the package made it feel like I actually bought it in person. Thank you!"

Young children are naturally drawn to the activities that the adults around them regularly do. They also have a strong desire to do things independently and take care of themselves.
Giving children the option to participate in practical life activities, like kitchen work, will:
Foster independence
Develop practical life skills
Give your children a sense of satisfaction and build their confidence
Prepare your children for the future
Help them learn about responsibility and discover they can contribute during snack and meal times.
Decrease picky eating. When children help prepare their food, they are more likely to eat it.
Teach skills like squeezing, cutting, peeling, grating, and chopping, helps to refine and strengthen fine motor skills.
Develop executive functioning skills, as children learn to follow a sequence of steps when following a recipe.
Decrease Picky Eating
When children are involved in food preparation, they're more likely to try new foods. The sense of accomplishment they feel from making something encourages them to show off their dish and ejoy it with the family.
If you're currently struggling with picky eating, involve your child in every step of the food prep process, starting with choosing foods from the grocery store or growing them in your own garden.
Add in a Learning Tower
A Learning Tower is the most wonderful and well-loved addition to any home with young children.
There are so many great reasons to get one but the main one is that it allows young children to participate in kitchen activities much earlier than they'd otherwise be able to.
They can use it to comfortably stand at the counter and work alongside you.
It's also great for easy hand-washing or doing washing practical life activities at the sink.

Child-Sized Materials Are Important
You wouldn't chop a carrot with a machete! That's what it can feel like to a toddler using adult-sized materials.
Child-sized materials are not only easier for them to use but they'll give your child the understanding that there's a place for them in the kitchen - "These are my tools".
Yes, all of these items can be purchased on their own.
Katie Lannaman, an Infant Toddler Montessori (MACTE) teacher, RECE, and all-around amazing educator has assembled this Kitchen Set, as well as the write-up that goes along with each item.
We've included a short write-up for each item, including the benefits for each item and instructions for how to introduce them.
