"A very pleasant experience ordering from The Montessori Room. Despite the pandemic and the hectic Christmas rush, the staff made my online purchase personal - from following up directly after the order was placed, to providing information about shipping and the great quality of the toy, I couldn’t have asked for a better service. The special note on the package made it feel like I actually bought it in person. Thank you!"

Young children are naturally drawn to the activities that the adults around them regularly do.
Giving children the option to participate in practical life activities, like setting their place at the table for mealtimes, will:
Foster independence
Develop practical life skills
Give your children a sense of satisfaction and build their confidence
Prepare your children for the future
Help them learn about responsibility
Develop executive functioning skills, as children learn to follow a sequence of steps.
Why Montessori Uses Real Glass Dishware
In a Montessori classroom, children use real glass cups and dishware as young as 18 months old.
Why?
There’s a couple reasons for doing this.
Like anything in Montessori, we begin with a demonstration.
Show your child how to hold the glass dishes with two hands and carry them to the table carefully.
Be sure to provide opportunity for your child to observe you and other family members engaging in setting the table.
Repetitionis also an important aspect of learning. Know that your child will need practice before he/she gets it right.
When your child is engaged in setting the table, sit back and observe. Offer assistance when needed, but take time to appreciate their efforts to do these tasks independently. We have to accept that there might be broken dishes but this will only help them learn.
